Don't Sell or Exchange your Smartphone before reading it - Factory Reset isn't Enough - WiredTamil

Are you planning to sell your smartphones, used tabs or even PCs, Hard Drives, External Hard Disks, Pen drives, Memory cards? Please don't sell them without completely reading my article. Do you know the data stored in those devices are recoverable even if you do factory reset or format them multiple time. There are few ways  to securely permanently wiping the data from your storage. I am covering two methods in this article both in Tamil, and English Language.


நிரந்தரமாக அழிக்கப்பட்ட தரவுகளை உங்கள் ஆண்ராய்ட் ஸ்மார்ட் போனில் இருந்து மீளப்பெறாதவாறு அழிப்பது எப்படி?

நிரந்தரமாக அழிக்கப்பட்ட தரவுகளை உங்கள் ஆண்ராய்ட் ஸ்மார்ட் போனில் இருந்து மீளப்பெறாதவாறு அழிப்பது எப்படி?  அழிந்த தரவுகளை மீட்க Google Play Store இல் Apps உள்ளன. இனி அழிக்கப்போகும் தரவுகளை அவற்றை நிரந்தரமாக அழிக்கக் கூடிய file shredding app மூலம் யாராலும் மீட்க முடியாத வண்ணம் அழிக்கலாம். ஆனால் முன்னர் அழித்தவற்றை எவ்வாறு மீட்க முடியாத வண்ணம் அழிப்பது? நீங்கள் இது பற்றி Google இல் தேடினால் கிடைக்கும் அனைத்து Apps ம் 2019 ஆண்டின் மதிப்பின் படி போலியானவை.

பின்வரும் முறை மூலம் அவற்றை மீட்க முடியாதவாறு அழிக்கலாம். இது தவிர வேறு ஏதாவது முறை தெரிந்தால் Comment பண்ணவும்.

First Method:

It is a basic method. When you delete a video in your phone, it won't be deleted from your phone. it only removes the reference to it, so you won't see it. But, it is still there until it is overridden. It can only be removed permanently by overriding another data on top of it. But, you can't do it by just copying and pasting another file to the location or folder it was saved. it will simply allocate another place for it instead of overriding the deleted video stored place, when you do it. 

Let's say you have 500 GB Hard Disk. You have to fill the 500 GB space with movies, songs, or any unwanted files to override that particular video or photo saved place in your hard disk. There are apps, and software for it. They will create dummy files, and fills your hard disk or any other storage place, Then they will delete them. So it will override that place where your video or picture was saved. But, it is not always safe. Running Low Storage, Out of Storage system alerts may interrupt the process of filling the storage of your smartphone with dummy data to permanently delete deleted photos, and Videos. Therefore you have to use some Recovery app or Software to confirm that it is no more recoverable.

இது இலகுவான ஒரு முறை. நாம் அழிக்கும் புகைப்படங்கள், வீடியோக்கள் உண்மையில் அழிவதில்லை, மாறாக அவற்றின் முகவரி மாத்திரமே அழிக்கப்படுகிறது. பார்க்கும் போது அழிந்தது போல் இருக்கும் ஆனால் அதன் மீது வேறு ஒரு தரவு வந்து பதியப்படும் வரை அது அங்கே தான் இருக்கும். நான் நம்மிடம் உள்ள தேவையற்ற தரவுகள் உதாரணமாக திரைப்படங்கள், பாடல்கள் போன்றவற்றை திரும்ப திரும்ப பதிவதன் மூலம் நம்மிடம் 500 GB Hard Disk உள்ளது என்றால் அது முழுமையடையும் வரை பதியவேண்டும். இதன் மூலம் நாம் நிரந்தரமாக அழிக்க நினைக்கும் புகைப்படங்கள், வீடியோக்கள் இருக்கும் பகுதிக்கு மேல் நாம் நிரம்பும் தேவையில்லாத தரவு பதியும் இதன் காரணமாக அது அழிந்துவிடும். 

ஆனால் அந்த புகைப்படங்கள் உண்ஂமையில் நீக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனவா என்பதை ஒரு Recovery app or Software பாவித்து நீங்கள் தான் உறுதி செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். காரணம் இந்த முறையில் சில வேளைகளில் நம்மால் நமது ஸ்மார்ட்போனின் நினைவகத்தை முழுமையாக நிரப்ப முடியாமல் போகலாம். Running Low Storage, Out of Storage போன்ற System Alert செயற்பாடுகளினால் முழுமையாக நிரப்ப முடியாமல் போகலாம். நினைவகத்தை நிரப்புவதற்கு என பல்வெறு  apps, and software உள்ளன. அவற்றை இயக்கினால் அவை எழுந்தமான தரவுகளை தொடர்ச்சியாக பதிந்து முழுமையாக நிரப்பும். பின்னர் அவற்றை அழிக்கலாம் அல்லது ஸ்மார்ட்போனை Factory Reset செய்யலாம். இவ்வகையில் நீங்கள் அழிக்க விரும்பும் தரவுகளை நிரந்தரமாக அழிக்கலாம்.

Second Method:

It is little advanced method. You have to enable your Smartphone's Encryption feature. You need to come up with a strong lock screen password every time you Factory Reset your phone. It might slow the performance of your smartphone, but it is unnoticeable. if you forget your lock screen password then you can't access your phone without doing a factory reset. it eventually delete everything, if they are not backed up. So, you need to be little careful.

Smartphone's Encryption feature யையும் Factory Reset யையும் வைத்து செய்யும் செயற்பாடாகும்.

Step one: Encrypting

I recommend encrypting your device before you are getting ready to wipe it. The encryption process will scramble the data on your device and, even if the wipe doesn't fully delete the data, a special key will be required to unscramble it.

To encrypt your device on stock Android, enter settings, click on Security, and select Encrypt phone. The feature may be located under different options on other devices.

உங்கள் ஆண்ராயிட் Device யை encrypt செய்வதற்கு settings இக்கு செல்லவும், பின்னர் click on Security, and select Encrypt phone. இந்த Encryption செய்வதற்கான feature  இருக்குமிடம் ஓவ்வொரு Phone இக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு மாதிரி அமையாலாம். ஆனால் பெரும்பாலும் Security settings இன் கீழ் இருக்கும்

Step two: Perform a factory reset

The next thing you will want to do is perform a factory reset. This can be done on stock Android by selecting Factory data reset in the Backup & reset option in the settings menu. You should be aware that this will erase all of the data on your phone and that you should backup anything you don't want to lose.

Encrypt செய்த பின்னர் Factory Reset செய்வதன் மூலம் அழிக்கப்பட்ட  தரவுகள் மாத்திரமல்லாது ஸ்மார்ட்போனில் இருக்கும் அனைத்து தரவுகளும் மீட்க முடியாத நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்படும். ஆகவே முன் கூட்டியே தேவையானவற்றை Backup செய்து வைத்துக்கொள்ளவும். 

Note

Encryption என்பது Lock Screen Password or Pattern or Finger Print or Face Unlock போன்ற ஒரு பாதுகாப்பு முறை. இது போனில் உள்ள தரவுகளை Lock Screen Password இன்றி வாசிக்க முடியாதவாறு அவற்றின் நிலையை மாற்றும் ஒரு தொழில்நுட்பமாகும். Encryption என்பது Factory Reset இன் ஒரு படி இல்லை. இரண்டும் வேறு வேறு. இதில் சொல்லப்படுவது யாது எனின் Encryption  செய்த Smartphone  யை Factory Reset செய்தால் Lock Screen Password தெரியாமல் அதில் அழிந்த தரவுகளை மீட்க முடியாது. கிட்ட தட்ட நிரந்தரமாக அழிந்தது போலவே ஆகும். Encryption செய்யாவிடின் Factory Reset செய்தாலும் தரவுகளை மீட்க முடியும்.


பொதுவாக விலை அதிகமான உயர் ரக ஸ்மார்போன்கள் Encrypt செய்யப்பட்டே விற்கப்படுகின்றன. Android ஸ்மார்ட்போன்கள் தான் By Default Encrypt  செய்யப்படாமல் பெரும்பாலும் விற்கப்படுகின்றன.

அதற்கு காரணம் Encrypt  செய்வதால் Budget அல்லது விலை குறைந்த போனின் வேகம் குறையும் என்பதே ஆகும். ஆனால் நான் அவ்வாறு உணரவில்லை. ஆகவே உங்கள் Smartphone யையும் Encrypt  செய்யுங்கள். இது உங்கள் Smartphone இன் பாதுகாப்பை மேலும் அதிகரிக்கும். யாராலும் இலகுவாக உங்கள் Smartphone யை ஊடுருவ முடியாது. அப்படி ஊடுருவினாலும் உங்கள் Lock Screen Password தெரியாமல் உங்கள் Smartphone இல் உள்ள தரவுகளை வாசிக்க முடியாது. உங்கள் Lock Screen Password தான் அந்த தரவுகளை வாசிக்க கூடிய விதத்தில் மாற்றும் திறவுகோல். Encrypt   செய்தவுடன் உங்கள் Smartphone இன் Lock Screen Password  யை நீங்கள் மறந்தால் உங்களால் கூட உங்கள் Smartphone இல் இருந்து எதையும் மீள பெற முடியாது. முழுவதும் அழித்து தான் உங்கள் Smartphone யை அதன் பின் பாவிக்க முடியும்.

Factory Reset செய்த பின்னர்  நீங்களும் உங்கள் Smartphone  யை Encrypt  செய்யுங்கள். Encrypt  செய்யும் போது புதிய Lock Screen Password தான் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். ஆகவே Encrypt  செய்ய முன்னர் உங்கள் தற்போதைய Lock Screen Password யை இலகுவானதாக்கினால், Encrypt  செய்யும் போது உங்களுக்கு பழக்கமான Lock Screen Password யையே பயன்படுத்த முடியும்.

முதல் முறை Encrypt செய்த பின்னர் எப்பொழுது எல்லாம் Restart (switch on/off) செய்கிறீர்களோ அப்பொழுது எல்லாம் Lock Screen Password கொடுத்தால் தான் உங்கள் Phone இயங்கவே தொடங்கும். அந்த அளவுக்கு இது உங்கள் போனுக்கு பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்கிறது. 

Encrypt செய்யப்பட்ட போனின் Lock Screen Password யை மறந்தால் போனை மீள் அழித்து தான் பயன்படுத்த முடியும்.


குறிப்பு: உங்கள் ஸ்மார்ட்போனை encrypt செய்து பின்னர் உங்கள் போனில் உள்ள தரவுகளை அழிப்பதற்காக factory reset செய்த பின்னர், மறுபடியும் அதே Lock Screen Password பயன்படித்தி உங்கள் ஸ்மார்ட்போனை lock அல்லது encrypt செய்ய வேண்டாம். எப்பொழுதும் புதிய Lock Screen Password யை பயன்படுத்தவும்.
